A lace knitting retreat for the ages
Featuring lace knitting legend Galina A. Khmeleva, who will offer 12 hours of hands on, stimulating lace knitting instruction, all the while enjoying immersion into the local French culture.
Sample Itinerary and highlights
Lodging in a 13th Century Chateau, set in lovely gardens surrounded by famous Bordeaux vines, and a five minute walk to the village of Villefranche de Lonchat. Double occupancy with private baths, heated pool, tennis court and wifi. Visit Bordeaux and St. Emilion, World UNESCO heritage sites, local yarn stores, spend time with a local French knitting group, and a French wool cooperative. There will also be a visit to an open-air market in a medieval village, a French antique market, and of course, plenty of famous Bordeaux wines to enjoy. This is the time of year when the vendage, is celebrated, so there are numerous fetes and celebrations to experience, along with the outstanding cuisine of the region. This is the home of confit, foie gras, cepes and chestnuts.
